Service Description: The Historic Preservation Commission seeks to preserve and enhance the city’s distinct aesthetic that serves as visible reminders of its historic heritage.
The Commission accomplishes this through enforcement of the city’s local Preservation Ordinance Chapter 2.106 Historic Districts.
DMD's Historic Preservation staff work to:
Preserve historic sites and buildings
Promote and protect Evansville's Historic Preservation District
Highlight the importance in reinvesting in our historic assets

Comments: The Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) program was established under Ind. Code 5-28-15 to promote investment and increased economic activity in some of the most distressed urban areas around the state. There are currently 19 active UEZs in Indiana.
The following tax incentives are available to businesses and residents located or doing business within a UEZ (see Indiana Dept. of Revenue Information Bulletin 66 for a description of each):
1. Employee Income Tax Deduction
2. Employment Expense Credit
3. Property Tax Investment Deduction
4. Loan Interest Credit (ended December 31, 2017)
5. Investment Cost Credit (ended December 31, 2017)
